      ScienCell’s ready-to-use 3D renal proximal tubular epithelial spheroids (SP-HRPTEpiS) display the differentiated epithelial cell marker CK18. Notably, SP3D-HRPTEpiS also have high ACE2 (angiotensin-converting enzyme 2) expression. Our RT-PCR analysis indicate elevated mRNA expression of the renal proximal transport molecule and transporters in 3D spheroids, compared to 2D monolayer. SP3D-HRPTEpiS, therefore, provide a physiological in vitro model to study kidney functions, and immune response of kidney cells to viruses.

      ScienCell’s 3D Mini-Kidney Spheroids (SP3D-HMKS) are generated by co-culturing human primary renal proximal tubular epithelial cells, mesangial cells, and glomerular endothelial cells to enable more accurate prediction of tissue-level outcomes. These human mini-kidneys allow the functional maintenance of cells over time due to a more native, three-dimensional (3D) architecture. In addition, they make it feasible to study kidney diseases that are challenging to model using only epithelial cells such as fibrosis.
